Chess players in Pune have a fantastic opportunity to end their summer vacation on a competitive and exciting note. The “Enjoy the Last Day of Summer Vacation Rapid Chess Tournament” is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 14th June 2026, promising a full day of intense battles, learning, and fun for players of all age groups.

Organized by Buddhibal Kreeda Trust and recognized by the Pune District Chess Circle, this event is expected to attract strong participation from across the region. With a well-structured format and attractive prize fund, the tournament is ideal for both aspiring young players and experienced competitors.

Tournament Format and Categories

The tournament is divided into three groups to ensure fair competition:

  • Group A – Open Category
  • Group B – Under-14 (Born on or after 01-01-2012)
  • Group C – Under-10 (Born on or after 01-01-2016)

Each group is limited to the first 70 entries, making early registration essential. The event will follow a 7-round Swiss League format, with a time control of 15 minutes plus 10 seconds increment per move.

Venue and Schedule

The tournament will be held at Shree Ganesh Sabhagruh, Karve Road, Pune, a well-known venue for chess events in the city. Players are required to report by 8:30 AM, followed by the players’ meeting and inauguration.

Round 1 begins at 9:15 AM, and the tournament will continue throughout the day with scheduled breaks, concluding with prize distribution at around 5:30 PM.

This structured schedule ensures a smooth playing experience while allowing players to stay focused and perform at their best.

Prize Fund and Entry Details

The tournament boasts a total prize fund of ₹35,000, distributed across all three categories.

  • Group A (Open): ₹17,000
  • Group B (Under-14): ₹10,000
  • Group C (Under-10): ₹8,000

Winners will receive cash prizes along with trophies and mementos. Additional prizes are also available for categories such as Best Woman, Best Veteran, and Best Unrated players, encouraging broader participation.

The entry fee is ₹400, making it accessible for most players. However, entries will close either upon reaching capacity or by 12th June 2026, 6 PM, whichever comes first.
